Past Events of the Friends' of the Clinton-Baker Pinetum
2023
15th October - Fungal Foray in the Pinetum with a local expert followed by tea and biscuits. Our samples of fungi that were collected in the Pinetum were taken back to the field centre where they were identified during a fascinating talk However it was commented that the number of different species of fungi found was much lower than found on previous forays, this was put down to climate change.

19th February - A Snowdrop walk was enjoyed by around 50 people and we welcomed several new members. Tea and biscuits were served in the Science Centre after the walk.
2020
17th January 2020 - January Jolly - After a cold buffet meal our Curator Edward gave another of his practical demonstrations, this time called intriguingly "Whipping, Seizing and Lashing: Things To Do To Rope," and this involved everyone trying this out. It was followed by a light-hearted general knowledge quiz which was great fun.
2019
7th November - AGM and supper
13th October - Fungal Foray in the Pinetum with a local expert followed by cream tea. An amazing variety of fungi where collected in the Pinetum and taken back to the field centre where they were identified by during a fascinating talk.
15th September - Pinetum guided tours followed by a cream tea.
14th July - Tree measuring demonstration and exercise.
18th June - Friends' BBQ. Despite the rain the men triumphed again with a portable gazebo and a very pleasant evening was spent by all.
17th May - A private visit for Friends' to Eastern Lodge, Dunmow with a guided tour. A beautiful garden which is being restored by volunteers.
21st March - Willow Weaving evening with Hazel Godfrey.
11th January - January Jolly with supper.

1st November - AGM with supper and a film of work over the years in the Pinetum
20th September- Visit to Anglesey Abbey to see the Dahlias, gardens and house

1st July - Gong Bathing - an occasion to rejuvenate mind , body and spirit through relaxation
14th June - Annual Friends' BBQ 6:30pm
20th May - 'How tall is that tree' - talk by Edward Eastwood followed by practical exercises within the Pinetum

12th January - January Jolly. A purely social evening with food, light hearted quizzes and a demonstration of knot tying with rope by our Curator Edward.

18th May - A 'Wild Life' talk by Ian Flack on the wild life which can be found within the Pinetum. The talk covered mammals, amphibians, insects and birds.

January - March - Poetry Course of six sessions run by Valerie Morton, a published poet, who has experience in lecturing and teaching courses in poetry writing.

3rd June - The Pinetum opened to the public for the British Red Cross Open Day.
